I imagine this is more tuned to troubleshooting MS programs and hardware on a PC rather than on a Mac Pro. Under Lion OS there is excellent sound from all speakers (rear audio line out jack, display speakers, and the front panel headphones jack.

I called MS and of course they blamed Apple. MS whoever did give me some links to some chat lines and blogs where I found that lots of people seem to be having the same problem, but I found no workable solution. It would appear that Apple must repair the audio driver, or Apple and MS should work together.
